Radio Imaging

The Basics

What is radio imaging?

Radio imaging is the sonic glue that holds a station together — the sweepers, stings, liners, promos, music beds, sound effects, and station idents that give a station its personality and make it sound like no one else. Done well, imaging doesn't just fill the gaps between songs; it builds a world your listeners want to live in. It makes your station feel alive.

What's the difference between imaging and jingles?

Jingles are one part of the imaging toolkit, sung elements that carry your station name, frequency, or slogan. But imaging is the whole picture. It encompasses everything that gives your station a sonic identity: a comedy liner, the dry sweepers, the news sting, the breakfast show drops, the promotional trailers, the FX package, and yes, the jingles too. We can help with any individual element or the entire ecosystem.

About Us

Who have you worked with?

Our founder Matt Fisher spent nearly two decades as Lead Imaging Producer at the BBC, responsible for station sound across Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, 1Xtra, and the Asian Network, winning more ARIAS in the process than anyone else in the awards' history. Beyond broadcast radio, we've created audio identities for international podcasts including Above & Beyond's Group Therapy, as well as clients including Bauer Media, Virgin Radio UK, Global, ITV Studios, VRT, and more. Our work has won awards, set industry benchmarks, and according to BBC Radio 1, given them "the golden touch."

Do you only work with large broadcasters?

Not at all. While we have the credentials and capability to serve the world's biggest stations, we work just as happily with independent broadcasters, digital stations, student radio, community radio, and podcast networks. The philosophy is the same whatever your size: your sound should be distinctive, purposeful, and built to connect with your audience. Every client gets our full attention, full stop.

Do you work with stations outside the UK?

Absolutely. We work with broadcasters all over the world and can deliver imaging in any language. Recent projects have included packages produced in Welsh, German, Spanish, Italian, and more. Our global network of voice artists means we can find the right talent for your market, your format, and your audience, wherever you're broadcasting from.

What We Create

What scope of imaging projects do you work on?

All of them. From a complete station rebrand including sonic strategy, music direction, voice casting, jingles, sweepers, FX, and bed music, right down to a single show package, a set of promotional trailers, or a run of custom beds for a specific format. If it makes your station sound better, we do it. There's no minimum brief and no ceiling on ambition.

Can you create a package for a specific show rather than the whole station?

Absolutely. Show level imaging is a specialism of ours. From breakfast show packages with custom music and tailored production elements, to late night show identities and specialist music programme branding, we're experienced in making a show sound as distinctive as the people presenting it. We've done this at national scale for shows on Radio 1, 6 Music, and 1Xtra, and we bring the same craft to every brief.

Do you create power intros or branded intros?

Yes, and it's one of our true specialisms. We like to think we played a significant part in bringing the power intro back to major radio, producing them for BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, and the Asian Network at a time when they were largely absent from mainstream UK broadcasting. Since then we've gone on to create them for Radio X, Heat Radio, and Hits Radio, among others. We can deliver one off batches, ongoing weekly updates, or a rolling service that keeps your library fresh and on format. If branded intros are part of your sound, we're the people to call.

Do you create event audio imaging?

Yes, and it's a real speciality of ours. From dramatic event openers that set the tone the moment doors open, to audience navigation voice overs that guide people through a venue, to mid show mixes and custom soundscapes, we can help design your entire audience audio experience from start to finish and deliver the final product ready to play. We've scored drone shows, created festival openers, and mixed half time mega mixes. Whether you're running a one off show or a touring production, great event audio is the difference between a good experience and an unforgettable one.

Working With Us

What does your creative process look like?

We start by listening, to you, your station, your audience, and your competitors. From there we develop a creative brief, explore sonic references, and propose a direction before a single element is produced. Once the concept is locked, our global network of composers, voice artists, singers, and sound designers brings it to life. You'll receive regular check ins and revisions are part of the process, not an afterthought.

Can you work with our existing voice or bring new talent?

Both. If you have an established station voice you want to retain, we'll work around them. If you're starting fresh or want options, we have access to an extensive global roster of voice over artists across accents, styles, and languages. Finding the right voice is as important to us as the music. It's a huge part of what makes imaging feel coherent.

Pricing & Next Steps

How much does radio imaging cost?

Every project is different, which means every quote is different. Pricing depends on the scope of what you need. A single show package sits in very different territory to a full station rebrand with ongoing updates. What we can tell you is that we work with stations of all sizes and budgets, and we'll always be upfront about costs before any work begins. The best first step is a conversation. Get in touch and tell us what you're working on and we'll give you a clear picture of what's involved and what it would cost.

How do I get started?

Just get in touch. There's no obligation and no standard form to fill in. Tell us what you're working on, what you're trying to achieve, and where you feel your current sound is falling short. We'll take it from there.
