Friedy and I popped over to her sister’s last night for dinner and a few drinks, and as always happens with this little crowd of ours, a few drinks rapidly turned into a flood of wine.

I didn’t know this in the past, but it seems that whenever I buy a cask of wine, it turns into about five hundred glasses worth. Good trick.

Red Hill Farmers’ Market and the Mornington Yacht Club

4/02/2011

P1040003

Despite the threat of continued storms all across the state, we jumped in the car with friends Kev and Aly today to check out the Red Hill Farmers’ Market down on the Mornington Peninsula.

Afterwards, on the way home, we detoured through Mornington to see what’s what.

So, Hey, it Rained.

Yikes. I picked up the lady from a friend of her’s tonight, and we went straight for a late dinner at Tom Phat (check out my Tom Phat breakfast post from 2010). Moments after we took off, the rain began crashing down. Get a load of this.

Could I Move to Brisbane? One Wonders…

18/11/2010

P1020408

I popped up to Brisbane a few weeks ago to meet my new nephew Jack, and while I only had a weekend up my sleeve, I managed to get in a few hours of wandering the city.

The heat and humidity are perhaps a little too much for the likes of me, but I think I could handle those things. Brisbane is honestly such a beautiful place, I think I could really handle a move up north.

Of course, with friends and relationships in Melbourne, it’s tough to make that call. It may never happen, but it certainly gives me pause to think.

The Weekend That Was

14/11/2010

photochop

Fuh. A relatively quiet (and plenty enjoyable) night on Friday watching Michael Palin docos and drinking expensive French cider was followed on Saturday morning by a fantastic home-cooked scrambled eggs this utterly amazing fresh bread from some bakery in Nicholson Street.

At 30, that’s my idea of a good time!

Saturday afternoon saw us kick off festivities for Kev’s buck’s night, with the groom and groomsmen heading down to The Jam Factory to watch Red. Excellent movie. We missed the first 10 minutes of course, because none of us bothered to tell the groom that anything was even happening!

Now that’s solid planning.

After the movie, it was off to the Tiki Bar for drinks, along with the presentation of Kev’s costume (the poor bastard) and the challenges he’d be facing for the night.

A great time was had, though I don’t mind admitting I went too hard too soon, and ended up heading home early. Don’t quite recall the trip home…

Fuel Magazine – Launch Of Issue Five At Rancho Deluxe

16/10/2010

P1020041

Dropped into the launch today of Fuel Magazine Australia’s fifth issue, at hot-rod mob Rancho Deluxe in Collingwood.

Some fine, fine rods were on display. Kudos to the guys for putting on a top show.

Incidentally, Rancho Deluxe has a little cafe in the workshop that’s open every Saturday, so it’s worth getting in there to grab a coffee and see what projects they’re working on.

More shots after the break.

Brekky And Wandering

1/10/2010

P1010646

A few snaps this morning. Such a beautiful day in Melbourne. Heading out again shortly. Must hang my washing out…

This morning we ate at Cavallero in Collingwood, which we’ve been to before and loved enough to return. Last time we sat at a big communal bench, and this morning we sat at a little round table in the window. I think I preferred the communal bench. It was a big heavy sleeper-like wooden thing, and it was just oddly nice to have strangers around, happy and chattering away.

I had the baked eggs with tomato, baby spinach, some sort of cheese the name of which I can’t recall… curses.
